It is a great pleasure and privilege to announce the first and comprehensive RSSA / BISSA Breast Imaging Course at The Sandton Convention Centre in Sandton, Gauteng, on 21 – 24 August 2014.

The course will be conducted under the directorship of Dr Sughra Raza from Harvard, USA, supported by Drs Nathalie Duchesne (Laval, Canada), Emily Conant (Pennsylvania, USA), Elizabeth Morris (Cornell, USA) and Per Skaane (Oslo, Norway).  The international faculty will be supported by leading South African Breast Radiologists, under the auspices of the newly formed Breast Imaging Society of South Africa (BISSA).

The state-of-the-art course will be preceded by an eight-hour Tomosynthesis workshop (complies with MQSA requirements) and two-hour Guided Breast Biopsy and localisation workshops (limited registration).  The two-and-a-half day course will cover all the important aspects of Breast Imaging with dedicated sessions on Breast Cancer Biology, Pathology and Therapeutic response.

The free paper session for the 2014 RSSA Travel Award of R40,000 will take place during the course.  There will also be a scientific and poster exhibition with prizes of R15,000 , R10,000 and R5,000 respectively.

The Sandton Convention Centre, conveniently situated in the heart of Sandton, Johannesburg, with easy access from OR Tambo International Airport.  The modern Mandela Square shopping centre caters for all tastes and preferences.
