Duties and responsibilities:
• Provide and/or co-ordinate MGEN1513 lectures in the department of Medical Physics.
• Contribute to curriculum development in the relevant BMedSc (Specialisation in Radiation Science) program
(Undergraduate and Honors).
• Develop teaching and learning material and assessment tools in the field of machine learning.
• Provide quality assurance services in the undergraduate curriculum.
• Teach, evaluate, assess and monitor throughput of post graduate students in Medical Physics.
• Provide training of Medical Physics Interns.
• Assist with the management of assessments in BMedSc (Radiation Science) modules for undergraduate
students, including coordination, development, implementation, evaluation and administration of
assessments.
• Provide student support.
• Involvement in the general academic programme of the department of Medical Physics.
• Conduct research related to Medical Physics.
• Liaise with the head of department and lecturers in the department of Medical Physics, as well as with Phase
Ill chair, Programme Director and fellow Teaching and Learning coordinators in clinical departments.
• Contribute to curriculum development in the relevant MBChB programmes (Medical Physics disciplines).
• Develop teaching and learning material and assessment tools.
• Provide quality assurance services in the undergraduate curriculum.
• Stimulate and participate in interdisciplinary research in Machine Learning and other related fields in the
Faculty of Health Sciences at the UFS.
Inherent requirements:
• PhD on NQF level 10 in Medical Physics/ Clinical Imaging / Nuclear Medicine.
• Registration with HPCSA as medical physicist.
• Experience in Machine Learning as applied in the Medical Field.
• Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
• Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
• An NRF rating or demonstrate potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
• A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
• Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee
or agency concerned with research at higher education levels.
Recommendations:
• Experience of acting as supervisor/ promoter for postgraduate students.
• At least 3 years' experience of working in a Medical Physics field.
• Proven record of critical skills associated with a post of this nature
• NRF grants awarded.
